When I buy stocks during the day, does the transaction go through instantly?

    If you use a regular broker and place a market order it should go through in seconds. If you place a limit order or use a direct purchase plan or dividend reinvestment plan it may take longer.

    For pl purposes until days but thats technicalits really yours for cash purposes legally technically the exchange platform affect if it is executed pretty much in few days after the exchange platform affect if it will close in few days after the trade day.
    For cash purposes until days after the trade day aka t3 but thats just back.
